Welcome to The Eclectic Guitar, the ultimate music therapy student and intern resource and communication center!
The Eclectic Guitar was redeveloped in early 2012 as a central hub for students and interns to obtain writing opportunities, to share experiences, resources, and communicate with others throughout the country. The site also provides invaluable information for any pre-professional concerning intervention ideas, sources, tools for advocacy, and interacting with other members of the music therapy community.
What you’ll find featured at The Eclectic Guitar:
Students: Live blog written by featured students from different degree programs in the country, open forum via Facebook so students can share intervention ideas, student life questions, and sources.
Interns: Live blog written by featured interns in approved AMTA or university affiliated sites. Interactive forum via Facebook where interns from different sites can communicate about experiences and pose questions concerning internship.
Advocate NOW: Tools, presentations, and resources that individuals, clubs, and organizations can take out into the community to promote music therapy.
Ask an MT-BC: Students and interns may contact a board-certified music therapist to ask questions regarding ethics, interventions, or career questions.
Professional Prep: Students and interns will find a variety of resources ranging from a monthly podcast series, resume building help, taking the board certification exam tools, resources for sessions, and internship application assistance.
The Chrysalis Project: Documenting the growing process of pre-professionals from student to intern through a publication series. Students and interns will have the opportunity to submit stories, reflections, and experiences to share with others through a series of books.
